Board Member Joseph Schlidt is honored for his work with SecureFutures Investment Conference of Milwaukee by Governor of Wisconsin for the third year since 2014.
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 8, 2018) – Financial Fitness Group (wwwFinancialFitnessGroup.com), based in San Diego, CA, a leading online financial literacy platform that educates individuals about the language of money, announced today that their Board of Director Joseph Schlidt, Godfrey & Kahn, s.c. and conference co-chair of SecureFutures Investment Conference received the esteemed honor in the individual category for the 2017 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award. This is the third year that SecureFutures has received the award, as selected by the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy. The Legacy Award is given to an organization, business, or individual whose purpose and heritage is ingrained in sustained financial literacy and capability.
“It is a true honor to be recognized by the Governor for my work surrounding financial literacy. Said Mr. Schlidt. “Those who know me well, recognize my passion for financial literacy runs deep. In my experience when people are positioned to make sound financial decisions many positive outcomes tend to arise. Not only is their financial position improved, but we tend to see improvements in self-esteem which in turn leads to various non-financial benefits. I look forward to my continued work on financial literacy, and I am truly humbled by this recognition.”
“We are proud to have outstanding Board Members like Mr. Schlidt support financial literacy not only as a Directing Member for Financial Fitness Group but also as a local contributor within the state of Wisconsin,” said CEO of Financial Fitness Group Miguel D. Vasquez. His leadership within the Financial Fitness Group has provided both strategic and value-based direction. Mr. Schlidt’s strong passion and advocacy for financial empowerment strengthens our position as a reliable and unbiased partner in financial education within the State of Wisconsin and throughout the US.”
Mr. Schlidt’s passion and opportunity to influence financial literacy in his community grew as he became involved with SecureFutures over 10 years ago. His journey initially commenced as a volunteer and quickly moved into a financial supporter, Board Member and now Advisory Board Member. A defining moment in Mr. Schlidt’s career was being fortunate enough to work with a dedicated group of volunteers to create a unique fundraiser in his market. This fundraiser has now become the must-attend financial conference in the area with roughly 600 in attendance. This event has raised over $1.5 Million for the organization to help drive expansion efforts. Mr. Schlidt continues to stay active as a classroom volunteer where he gets an incredible level of satisfaction seeing young people take the information he educates them on and immediately begin to utilize it.
For more than 10 years, Financial Fitness Group has also collaborated with the State of Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions, the Center for Financial Security at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the State of Wisconsin Employee Trust Funds to offer independent, unbiased online financial education to over 200 Wisconsin employers and more than 25,000 employees statewide. Financial Literacy an Increasing Issue in America
Since the 1970s, the United States has shifted the burden of saving for retirement from the employer to the employee. Pensions are now a thing of the past, and employees have taken on the sole responsibility for their financial futures. With that responsibility comes to stress – the stress of the unknown related to money. Today, we have 80% of the workforce living paycheck to paycheck – with 46% of those employees stressing about finances at work at least 3 hours per week. Financial Fitness Group was created to help fill the void by enabling individuals to empower themselves, to become more profitable and less stressed in their daily lives. The Financial Fitness Groups online education platform was specifically developed to reduce the anxiety, lack of clarity or absence of financial planning that yields uncertainty related to money, including debt, medical bills, saving for retirement or children’s education. Financial Fitness Group impacts people’s lives by giving them the knowledge and information to confidently reach their financial goals.
